Treatment

You always have the right to question the appropriateness of the various techniques we will use during your therapy. You may also ask any time about my professional capabilities, including education, training, and experience.

You have the right to discontinue your therapy at any time. However, it would be in your best interests to discuss the reasons for terminating. If you feel your goals would best be met by continuing your treatment with another professional, I will be happy to make a referral whenever possible.

Confidentiality

Any information shared with me during the course of your therapy will be kept strictly confidential, except when limited by California state law or unless you give me written permission to release information.

Current California law requires notification of the appropriate authorities in cases of knowledge or reasonable suspicion of child, dependent adult or elder abuse. If you make a credible threat to harm another person, I must notify the police and warn the intended victim. If you are in danger of harming yourself or unable to care for yourself, I must intervene.

What is Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy may be described as a professional relationship between a client and a therapist that focuses on facilitating change in the client‘s life. My role as a therapist is to support and assist you, the client, in discovering, exploring and changing some of the beliefs and strategies you have employed to make your way through the challenges of life.

As your therapist, I will work to create a safe and confidential environment where you may explore these issues. While I draw from the insights and techniques of a variety of psychological theories, there are three basic beliefs that guide my work with clients. Learn more about my approach.

RIsks and Benefits

While therapy can lead to insight and positive changes in your life, it can also create tension in longstanding relationships and surface painful feelings. I will be here to support you through whatever comes up in your therapy.

While most people find therapy beneficial, there can never be a guarantee for specific outcomes. Your personal dedication and active participation in the process will increase the likelihood that you will be satisfied with the outcome of your therapy.
